Testing Your WiFi

Two of the most significant factors we look for to ensure our customers' great experience is their internet speeds and WiFi strength. Since all of the products we install connect to the internet through WiFi, it's essential to get as strong a signal as possible where these devices are placed and ensure your internet plan's speed is fast enough. If you are unsure about your internet speed or WiFi strength, you can test it by doing the following:

Test Your Internet Speed

  1. Bring your mobile device close to your WiFi router

  2. Open a web browser (Safari, Chrome, or any other) and go to ring.com/speed

  3. Note the speeds listed under the "Download" and "Upload" boxes

  4. These are the speeds you are receiving from your internet service provider

  5. As long as you have 10 Mbps for each, your internet plan is up to the task!

If you find your internet speed is less than required, check with your service provider to determine the speeds you are currently paying for and make sure you receive them. If your speed matches your current service plan, but it's still insufficient, it may be time to consider upgrading your internet speed package.

Test Your WiFi Strength

  1. Bring your mobile device to the spot you would like the security device installed.

  2. Open a web browser (Safari, Chrome, or any other) and go to ring.com/speed

  3. Note the speeds listed under the "Download" and "Upload" boxes

  4. As long as you have 3 Mbps in both the "Download" and "Upload" at each location, you should be good to go!

If you find your WiFi strength is not enough at one location, it may help to move your internet router closer to the area. The ideal place for your router will be at the center of your home on either the main or second floor. If the signal strength is insufficient at multiple locations and you cannot move your router, we offer Whole-Home WiFi Design as one of our premium services as well. Call today to find out more!
